Honda and Acura vehicles come equipped with anti-theft radio systems that will lock themselves when they detect a potential threat. This is used to ensure your vehicle protection, there are other times where the radio code might be triggered, so it's important to know those as well and how to fix it.
If your vehicle becomes disconnected from its battery, or the battery dies and you need a jump, the system may lock you out. That can be an anxiety-inducing thing, but fear not. You can get your vehicle back to full functionality in a few steps.
Each Acura or Honda comes with a nine-digit code that, when you enter it, will unlock the device and allow you to resume full use. To get this, find your VIN at the bottom of the driver's side windshield, visible through the windshield. Your VIN is also generally found on your vehicle registration and title. Once you find the VIN, go to mygarage.honda.com/s/radio-nav-code to answer a few questions, enter the VIN, and retrieve your code.
You also will need to find your radio serial number, which is generally listed on the anti-theft card that comes with the vehicle, or on the decal inside the glove box. In some models, you can retrieve it directly from the display.
